Camelot Christmas

Hi WS Fiddlers,

I will be going to Raleigh to set up our vending area on Friday. I am supposed to pick up badges for our students and there may be a few vending passes as well. Please confirm by Friday morning at 10:00 AM if at all possible that you are definitely playing on Saturday and/or Sunday so I can take the lists of performers to pick up the passes for each day.

We're still searching for costume ideas. It's looking a little like we may have to improvise from our own closets at this point, but Scott is going to see what the Day School has available. I am going to Eastern Costume today. If anyone who is involved with drama in other schools or venues could make inquiries, maybe we can get a few things from several different places. Thanks!!!

See you tonight!

Performance Times

Hey Everyone!

I got a response from Donna in regard to performance times. We are scheduled for 10:30 AM, 12:45 PM and 3:45 PM...I am assuming this is each day. Each set is 45 minutes.

We can set up vending between noon and 7:00 PM. They do not advise trying to set up Saturday morning as it will be too hectic to carry in stuff.

We are good to sell cider as before.

One more reminder I forgot this morning:
NO RED OAK SUNDAY! We have postponed till Sunday the 10th because of the festival.

See you all tomorrow!

Please add the Walker Street Fiddlers to your Harris Teeter VIC Card! NUMBER 6279!

Now that we're well rested...

Hey Walker Street Fiddlers!

Are you all well fed and ready for our biggest weeks of the year? I hope all of you enjoyed a little time off, family gatherings, food, football and shopping over the Thanksgiving holiday. Now that we're well rested...

Tomorrow night is our monthly performance at McPherson's. We hope you will be able to come out for a fun beginning to our busy December schedule. This will be our last McPherson's until January, so I know you won't want to miss it!

I am emailing today to see if I can find out exactly when we play next weekend at the Camelot Christmas festival. I have been looking for shirts online that we could wear to be at least a little "stylish" for the event. Most are around $30, so I sent some emails to see if we could find some to borrow or rent. Scott is checking at the Day School for costuming. I'll also check some rental places in town. I figured if the boys just had shirts with their jeans or whatever and the girls had peasant skirts, we would be okay. Hopefully, I'll have more info about this weekend at McPherson's tomorrow.

Camelot Christmas Festival, Saturday, State Fairgrounds in Raleigh
(This event lasts from 10:00 AM till 6:00 PM Both days. I will get actual performance times as soon as they are available to us!)

Camelot Christmas Festival...Sunday

THERE WON'T BE ENOUGH ROOM FOR ANY MORE PLAYERS AT THE CANDLE TEA, BUT WE CAN USE ANYONE WHO CAN BE THERE ON SATURDAY AND ESPECIALLY SUNDAY FOR THE FESTIVAL.

We will have our ornaments and scarves for sale at the festival. We will sell raffle tickets this weekend and do the final drawing for the bodhran on Sunday. We'll have cider...I think. I am planning to be there both days all day and any parent who wants to help is most welcome as early as you want to arrive and as late as you want to stay! I know it will help your planning to have the WSF performance times, so stay tuned for that information.

Last thing, I have 200 Papa John's coupon cards that you can begin to sell as your next family fundraiser. I can apply the earnings from these sales as a credit toward your individual family's trip invoices. We can run this fundraiser as long as we want, so just let me know how many cards you want to start with and when you need more!

Heads up about the citrus fruit orders... We were promised delivery the first week of December, so I am expecting to get the call the week following the festival. As soon as I have the date, I'll pass it on! We'll appreciate your help unloading the truck from those of you who can respond on short notice.

Thanks so much for your great response for these upcoming events. I'll look forward to seeing you tomorrow at McPherson's!

Event Sign up

Hi Walker Street Fiddlers,

I'm sorry this is so late, but I had the Saturday gig and the Citrus Sale winding down this weekend and I completely forgot to send out the reminder for the BIG GROUP PRACTICE TODAY!!!

PARENTS! Please come inside today if possible to sign up for one...or more...of our next big events. The 1st weekend of December will be a three day extravaganza of events and we think it might be helpful to know who is available to attend each event. There will be sign up sheets for these events at the church tonight for those who are ready to jump in!  Your choices are:

Candle Tea at First Moravian Church.............Friday, December 1st
(the time will be sometime between 5:30 and 7:00 PM) We'll announce later
We need a minimum of 8 players and probably not more than 12 for this   event.

Camelot Christmas Festival...............Saturday and Sunday, December 2nd & 3rd
This is an all day thing like the festivals before. We will probably have more than one performance each day, but I do not have specific times yet. We will have vending space as before, and we will need at lease 10 or 12 players each day. For this event we are asked to dress...or at least accessorize...in Renaissance type attire. I will be researching places to rent or purchase some inexpensive items that may work for us. We are not going to panic over this, but we will try to accommodate as much as we can comfortably manage.

We ask that everybody attend at least one of these performance/fundraising events. I will try to have some more information about the start/end times for the festival by this afternoon.

In other news...Our citrus sale is officially completed! The total funds earned for student expenses came to $1577.00 @ $9.50 profit per box. Each family's total earnings on the boxes of fruit they sold will be credited directly to their trip invoice for their students' expenses. Congratulations on your success! We made a $100.00 donation (50 cents per box) to the Grimsley High School Orchestra for allowing us to become "official" members of the orchestra for the duration of this fundraiser.

Do not despair if you did not profit as much as you had hoped from the Citrus Sale. We will begin a new fundraiser immediately!!! Yippee!!! This will also be a fundraiser for families to apply the proceeds directly to our student's individual trip balances. It involves coupon booklets for Papa John's Pizza products. I understand the profit margin on these is very high and the purchase price is very inexpensive to the customer. There is a free pizza coupon that will cover the purchase price right away and the rest of the booklet is discounts and freebies when you make other purchases. They will probably be much easier to sell than the frozen pizza products so many students use for fundraising and WAY less trouble since we will not have to deal with actual product. I will have specifics available after I talk to the general manager this afternoon.

One last note! The WSF have also been asked to do a performance on December 7th. Rebecca Moore-Painter was one of our students for many years. Her mom, Terry is associated with Wesley Long Hospital. This performance will be for covered dish dinner. I think the event is for some of the folks who may be employed at the hospital...not entirely sure. Anyway, we need another 10 or so players for this event. Scott will be getting the information from Terry in regard to times and location. If you want to volunteer for this one, please let Scott know and he will get back to you with details.

So, once again, there is a lot of information for you to sift through and sort out in here! You guys are great with all your support and participation this year so far. Please let me know anything I can do to be helpful to you!

See you tonight!
Teresja

The Walker Street Fiddlers have been accepted by the Harris Teeter chain into the Together in Education Program. This is already in effect, so please remember to ask next time you shop at Harris Teeter.

Red Oak Sunday & Groups on Monday

Hi Walker Street Fiddlers,

This is your first of the month reminder of the Jam Session at Red Oak tomorrow at 6:00 PM.  Plan to come for fun! Scott wants to include these new tunes in the jam session. If you do not have this music, Scott will have copies tomorrow.
Brenda Stubbert's
The Ugly Duckling
Clinch Mountain Backstep

Greensboro Day School Groups will be held as usual on Monday, even though some GDS students may have that day off due to teacher conferences. Please come at your regular times.

BIG EVENT NEXT WEEK!
Sam Couch will be addressing all the parents who are planning to to travel to Ireland. Please come if you can...students welcome also...whether you are traveling with the main group or planning independent travel for your family. The meeting will be held at First Moravian Church in the NEW Fellowship Hall. It is located to the left of the Old Fellowship Hall where we have group.  At the end of the walkway is a double doorway. Inside and upstairs is the New Fellowship Hall. The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening, November 9th. Sam is excited to meet all of you, discuss our itinerary, and answer questions about the trip.

And, finally, I sent a letter and an order form by email that may be helpful to you in soliciting fruit sales from companies and organizations. I am mailing a bunch of these out to lucky recipients randomly selected from the yellow page ads placed by local attorneys and physicians. If I get even a 10% response...it could prove a worthwhile mailing.

Business who purchase large orders for employee gifts sometimes ask for a tax ID number or W-9.  If someone requests this information or a W-9, just let me know.

Hope to see you tomorrow at Red Oak!
